The Catholic Diocese of Kakamega Diocesan Synod entered it’s third day on Wednesday 12th June 2019.

Among the topics discussed by the plenary assembly were;

1. Liturgy and Discipline of the sacraments

  • Need to have uniformity in the activities of the Diocese and Parishes.

  • Diocese to come up with liturgical commission to evaluate and give direction on issues of liturgical inculturation within the Diocese.

2. Ecumenism and inter religious dialogue

  • Respect and amicable relationships to be enhanced by the Diocese with other denominations and people of different faith.

  • Clergy to embrace formal code of dress.

3. Small Christian Communities

  • Priests and Sisters to become members of Small Christian Communities.

  • Come up with Small Christian Communities for young people or bible study groups.

4. Missionary consciousness

  • To have Diocesan Missionary Day

  • Encourage Fidei Donum Priests and invite missionaries to work in the Diocese.

  • Have Mill Hill day and honour other missionaries who have worked in the Diocese.

5. Identity, discipline and welfare of clergy and religious

  • The Diocese to come up with mechanism to enhance the social, spiritual, psychological and material welfare of Priests.

6. Promotion of vocations

  • Formation of an all inclusive Diocesan vocations promotions team to include clergy, religious and laity.

  • Create mechanisms where Christians support formation houses for our Clergy and religious.
